Paintings

"The mapping out of a city, is important primarily in the way it manoeuvres its population, and I am interested in the way people relate to living in this space, being controlled by governing bodies and town planners.... Interest also lies in the way people articulate their presence visually, through graffiti and territorial marking. To address my interest in this place. I have utilised abstraction primordial qualities. Colour has a significant role to play in this and is used throughout the series to both signify physical elements of urbanity and to reveal its psychological nature, - it's ability to carry emotion. I would like these paintings to be seen as metaphors for the physical dimensions of urban space, whilst suggesting the experience of living in such a space.”
